Your wedding day is one of the most important and emotional days of your life. It’s a celebration filled with love, laughter, and genuine moments you’ll cherish forever. But when it comes to capturing these memories, the last thing you want is to feel awkward, overly posed, or distracted by the camera. That’s where natural and relaxed wedding photography comes in.
This beautiful style of photography focuses on capturing authentic moments rather than staged poses. It tells the story of your day as it unfolds, preserving real emotions, meaningful interactions, and the little details that make your wedding uniquely yours.

Key Aspects of This Style:
✔ Unscripted Moments – Real smiles, happy tears, and heartfelt embraces take centre stage.
✔ A Stress-Free Experience – You won’t be told to “hold that pose” for minutes on end. Instead, the photographer blends into the background, allowing you to enjoy your day.
✔ Storytelling Through Images – Your wedding album will feel like a visual love story, rather than a collection of stiff portraits.
✔ Soft, Natural Light – Many natural wedding photographers prioritise beautiful, natural lighting to create timeless, romantic images.
The goal? To make sure that when you look back at your wedding photos, they don’t just remind you of how the day looked—but of how it felt.

Why choose Natural & Relaxed Wedding Photography?
1. You Can Be Yourself
If the thought of posing for photos makes you feel nervous or uncomfortable, you’re not alone! Many couples feel the same way. The beauty of natural wedding photography is that you don’t have to worry about “performing” for the camera. Instead, your photographer captures you just as you are—laughing, crying, dancing, and celebrating with loved ones.
2. Less Pressure, More Enjoyment
Your wedding day goes by in the blink of an eye, and the last thing you want is to feel like a photoshoot is taking over. A relaxed photographer will subtly guide you when needed but will ultimately encourage you to enjoy the moment, forget the camera, and soak in the experience.
3. Genuine Emotions Shine Through
The best wedding photos are the ones that make you feel something. That spontaneous laugh during your first dance, the joyful tears as your partner sees you walking down the aisle, the look of pride in your parents’ eyes—these are the moments that tell your love story.
4. Timeless & Meaningful Images
Trendy editing styles and dramatic posing may look great today, but will they still feel meaningful in 20 years? Natural photography captures the real essence of your day in a way that remains timeless.

How to Get the Best Natural & Relaxed Wedding Photos
If this style of photography speaks to you, here are some simple ways to ensure your wedding photos are as beautiful and authentic as possible:
1. Find a Photographer Who Aligns with Your Vision
Not all photographers have the same approach. Look for someone whose portfolio showcases candid, natural images rather than heavily posed or dramatically edited shots. A great photographer will also make you feel comfortable, so be sure to chat with them before booking!
2. Focus on Your Connection, Not the Camera
The best wedding photos happen when couples forget about the lens and immerse themselves in the moment. Whether it’s whispering inside jokes, holding hands, or sharing a quiet moment together, your connection will naturally shine through.
3. Plan a Stress-Free Timeline
A packed schedule can leave little room for spontaneous moments. Work with your photographer to create a timeline that allows for breathing space, golden-hour portraits, and relaxed interactions.
4. Consider a Pre-Wedding Shoot
An engagement or pre-wedding session is a fantastic way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. It helps you build trust with your photographer and lets you see how they work in a relaxed setting.

Candi’s Final Thoughts:
Natural and relaxed wedding photography is more than just a style—it’s an approach that allows you to fully embrace your wedding day without worrying about the camera. It’s about capturing real moments, real emotions, and real love in a way that feels true to you. How this looks on the day is that I will just be there in the background. I may choose to set up some, lights or a flash or two to ensure we capture moments perfectly but most of the time you won’t notice what I am capturing as I’ll be aiming to capture your day exactly as it unfolds.
What about group photos and bride and groom portraits I hear you ask? Just because you have chosen a natural and relaxed style of photography doesn’t mean that you can’t still have some formal posed photos if you’d like them. Group family photographs that parents, grandparents and other family members would like printed and in a frame can still take place. We’d focus on the most important ones so that you’re not doing group photographs for a huge chunk of time but we’d make sure the key groups are covered. This is something we’d discuss prior to your wedding day. Bride and Groom portraits are slightly different, this is a time that we get to disappear from the crowd and you get sometime to just be newly weds. My approach to this is that we go for a walk within your venue, maybe in the grounds, and I capture you as a couple being natural with each other. We may pause somewhere for a moment to get the perfect portrait, but I will always encourage you to chat to each other, make each other laugh and smile so that we fill the camera with authentic moments and not posed, straight at the camera shots.
When you look back at your wedding album, you won’t just see beautiful images—you’ll relive the joy, the excitement, and the love that made your day unforgettable.
